TaKisha August

Hi, I’m TaKisha! I never imagined I’d be a birth worker, but when I became pregnant with my son in 2013, I was struck by the reality of everything I didn’t know about my body, birth, or what happens after baby is born. As my partner spent the bulk of my pregnancy away on military deployment, I immersed myself in every prenatal resource I could get my hands on. I learned to honor my experience through ritual, connected with my body through mindful movement and sought out community as best I could. What I didn’t know I needed was the supportive education and guidance of a doula.

After having experienced postpartum anxiety and depression during the first year of my experience as a new mother and recognizing how deeply I needed a level of support that wasn’t available to me at the time, I vowed to serve other women and mothers as they make the transition from pregnancy, birth and new motherhood.

Now, as a Perinatal yoga and meditation teacher, Holistic Health Coach, and doula, I have chosen to dedicate this chapter of my life to serving and supporting women and mothers to better navigate life transitions through education, movement, support and nourishment.

When not supporting new and expectant mothers, I can be found teaching yoga in person and online, coaching clients virtually, or utilizing my skills as a content developer to support other online entrepreneurs grow and sustain their online communities.

I hold several degrees and certifications, to include a B.A. in communications from VA State University, a master’s in publishing from The George Washington University, recognition as an E-RYT 200 and RPYT through Yoga Alliance, an IIN-trained and IAHC Certified International Health Coach, and Doula training through DONA and Mama Glow.
